THE PHOCOS DALI SERIES

MPPT Power + DALI / D4i Intelligence

The Phocos CIS-N-MPPT-DALI (D4i certified) charge controller functions as an intelligent energy and communications platform, not simply a battery charger.

Perfect for modern connected solar street-lighting systems that require remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, energy analytics, and interoperability across multiple vendors of ecosystem components.

ONE BOX. NOT FOUR.

The CIS-N-MPPT-DALI replaces four separate components in a single IP68 enclosure: a solar charge controller, an LED driver, a D4i interface, and a dedicated 24V auxiliary power supply. Phocos slashes OEM assembly time, eliminates complex external wiring, and replaces four potential points of failure with one certified, reliable unit. Fewer components, less wiring.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Phocos CIS-N-MPPT-DALI, exactly?

A single, sealed (IP68 rated) solar charge controller that mounts inside a solar streetlight pole, battery box, or light head. This single unit charges the battery from the panel, powers the LED fixture, enables connecting the lighting system to a city’s management system over the open DALI D4i standard, and supplies power to the control bus and its auxiliary sensors. In most solar modern streetlight applications, the CIS-N-MPPT-DALI replaces four separate components with one unit.

Which model do I need?

Size by fixture current and array. The 60W handles 250 to 2,500 mA and up to 300 W of usable solar. The 120W handles 350 to 3,500 mA, up to 450 W of usable solar, and accepts 85 V input for standard 60-cell panels. A Bluetooth-programmable 60W variant arrives in Fall 2026.

What batteries does the controller support?

Gel, AGM, Flooded lead-acid, LFP lithium, and fully custom profiles, at 12 V or 24 V with automatic detection. The controller ships configured for lithium, includes a temperature sensor, and wakes sleeping lithium batteries automatically. Lithium packs must include a battery management system. Note that the controller does not itself limit charge current to a pack’s cold-temperature maximum, so array sizing must account for that.

Can the controller provide auxiliary power for connected devices?

D4i drivers include an integrated DALI bus power supply, which can power D4i certified devices connected to the bus. Separately, the D4i standard defines an optional 24V auxiliary supply for devices with higher power requirements. Tell us what you’re planning to connect, and we’ll confirm what’s available in your configuration.

How does the controller keep time without a clock?

The controller learns from the solar panel. Dusk, dawn, and the true midpoint of night are derived from array voltage over several days of operation. There is no real-time clock to lose synchronization after a power cut and no seasonal reprogramming visit.

What happens if network connectivity is lost?

The controller’s Adaptive Lighting Control logic is designed to maintain lighting operation on a defined schedule if communication is interrupted, so the luminaire continues functioning while connectivity is restored.

How rugged is the CIS-N-MPPT-DALI, really?

The unit is sealed to IP68 (tested at 1.5 m for 72 hours), designed to live inside a pole or battery box exposed to heat, dust, humidity, and storm conditions, and carries a five-year warranty. There are no fans, sockets, or field-serviceable parts to fail.

Can I get a sample?

Yes. Samples, technical briefings, and volume pricing are all available. Request a sample here.
