Is a single Any-Grid PSW-H able to connect to 2 phases?

For a residual current device to work we internally connect neutral to ground when we are in Off-Grid / battery mode. If we were to do that with one of the two phases, which is what would happen if you connect 2 phases onto the inverter instead of one neutral and one phase, that would not work and it would probably damage the device.
